| Story #1 DON PARMELY HONORED Don Parmley was recently honored on two separate occasions in Monticello, Ky. The first, "A Day with Don Parmley," was held at the Aspire Center, April 19. Several dignitaries including Mayor, Kenneth Catron joined a packed house for a day of music and tribute to hometown favorite who recognized for his years and contributions to bluegrass music. The talented studio banjoist for the "Beverly Hillbillies" TV show and co-founder of the Bluegrass Cardinals received numerous commendations, awards, and the key to the city. Plans are in the works to make Don Parmley Day an annual event. On July 28th commemorative signage was unveiled declaring "Wayne County Kentucky" as the "Home of Don Parmley." (insert pictures noting... "pictured with Don are: Mayor, Kenneth Catron and Judge Executive Greg Rankin" also, give photo credit to Toni Humble) Related stories can be found in the September/October issue of BLUEGRASS MUSIC PROFILE, or on the web at www.bluegrassblog.com |

Story #4 2006 was a great year for our own Dale Perry, and 2007 is shaping up to be the same. It should come as no surprise that Dale Perry can play the bass, the banjo and can sing. He has 5 IBMA awards to prove it. Add to that collection a brand new one, in a new category… IBMA award winning producer. Blue Circle Records “Back to the Well,” performed by the “Daughters of Bluegrass,” walked away with the International Bluegrass Music Association’s coveted “Recorded Event of the Year” for 2006. The project was conceived by Carolina Road bandleader, Lorraine Jordan, and was recorded at Dale Perry’s Lakeside Recording Studio, with Dale at the controls, and serving as producer. “This makes me as happy as anything I’ve done in the music business thus far,” a grateful Dale Perry commented. “Until now, folks have only known me as a musician, but I love the recording side of the business just as much.” Dale’s abilities as a engineer/producer can also be found in the fact that the last two releases recorded by The Churchmen, have received Dove awards nominations… an incredible feat for a studio that started in a garage as a hobby. Lakeside Recording is located in Moneta, VA. Phone: 540) 420 3411 |
